Sep. 27--TOKYO -- Japan's largest oil distributor Nippon Oil Corp. said Tuesday it will raise wholesale prices for gasoline and diesel oil for October by 0.9 yen per liter from September to pass on higher crude oil prices.
It is the company's fourth straight price increase, but Nippon Oil officials said the company may keep wholesale prices unchanged in November if crude oil prices and foreign exchange rates move stably in their current ranges.
Two other major oil distributors -- Cosmo Oil Co. and Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K., a Royal Dutch/Shell Group unit -- said the same day they will also raise wholesale prices, by 1.2 yen and 1.1 yen, respectively.
Their announcements come a day after Idemitsu Kosan Co. and Japan Energy Corp. said they will increase wholesale prices by 1.2 yen for October.
