CorDEX Instruments Breaks Into Brazil With Distributor Deal

September 8, 2011

ABERDEEN, Scotland, September 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ –

CorDEX Instruments has secured a deal with equipment supplier PERCON at
the Offshore Europe conference in Aberdeen for its intrinsically safe and
explosion proof technologies to be distributed in Brazil for the first time.

Rio De Janeiro based PERCON will distribute the full range of CorDEX
products to Brazil. This includes the UT5000 Intrinsically Safe Thickness
Gauge, LaserMETER 3000XP, laser distance meter and the ToughPIX 2300XP
Series of ATEX and CSA certified digital cameras.

Tony Holliday, CEO of CorDEX Instruments, said: “There is a strong
petrochemical market in Brazil. It is the largest in South America and new
discoveries could make Brazil the sixth largest oil and gas producer in the
world. It was a natural progression for us to target that region following
our growth in other energy regions such as North America and the Middle
East.

“Petrobras is the main oil company in Brazil and part of the reason we
chose PERCON is because of their good relationship with the state-owned
operator given their distinguished status as an approved supplier. We feel
our products are an ideal fit for the market and look forward to working
with PERCON to capitalise on the opportunities in Brazil.”

Brazil is a burgeoning region for trade. It has one of the world’s most
rapidly developing economies with a higher GDP per head than India or China.
The oil and gas sector is an area of significant development with US$ 258
billion of investment from state-run Petrobras and international operators
planned in the coming years.

PERCON has supplied technical support equipment to the Brazilian energy
industry for eight years.

Waldir Lobo, Commercial Director of PERCON, said: “We work with a number
of companies to bring the latest and best oil and gas technologies to the
market in Brazil and look forward to working with CorDEX. There is a gap in
the market for this type of equipment and the agreement with CorDEX brings
something new to our customer base which will be of great benefit for their
NDT and inspection operations.”

CorDEX has developed technologies ideally suited to the hazardous
environments of the oil and gas sector. Their intrinsically safe and
explosion-proof equipment eliminates the need for shutdown or hot work
permits in Non Destructive Testing (NDT) and inspection.

Teeside headquartered CorDEX Instruments has a base in Aberdeen,
Scotland, the European capital for the energy industry, and also has a
network of distributors across the USA, Europe and the Middle East.

CorDEX is a leading manufacturer of intrinsically safe and non
destructive testing products for the oil and gas industry. For further
