September Sales in U.S. Short of Forecast

U.S. retail and food services sales for September rose 0.2 percent to $351.5 billion, the Commerce Department reported Friday.
Economists had expected the figure to be up 0.3 percent.
Compared to September 2004, retail and food service sales were up last month 6.5 percent.
