Oil Production Withdraws By 4%-5% Annually

According to Al-Hayat newspaper (January 18, 2006), official statistics show that the volume of Syria’s oil production has withdrawn by 4%-5% annually since 1998. Syria produced 450,000 barrels of oil on daily basis last year compared with 650,000 barrels in 1998. Unless new oil discoveries are recorded, the volume of Syria’s oil production is expected to decline to 300,000 barrels per day by 2020.
