AirTran Airways Announces Schedule and Fares for New Service to White Plains, N.Y.

Posted on: Monday, 30 January 2006, 18:00 CST

ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. , today announced its flight schedule for new, daily nonstop service from Westchester County Airport in White Plains, N.Y., to Atlanta, Orlando, and West Palm Beach. Fla. The new service will begin April 4, 2006, on the airline's popular Boeing 717, one of the industry's quietest aircraft.

"Both business and leisure travelers from the tri-state area will appreciate the convenient schedules of these AirTran Airways flights with nonstop service to three destinations and convenient connections to more than 35 other cities," said Kevin Healy, AirTran Airways' vice president of planning. "We're excited to be adding Westchester County to our growing network and believe people will appreciate our new airplanes, low fares and high quality of service, including Business Class and XM Satellite Radio on every flight."

"I commend AirTran Airways for their commitment to New Yorkers to provide low-cost, affordable air service into Westchester County Airport," Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton said. "The four non-stop flights are hopefully just the beginning of this important air service which will help with the economic development of the region and keep air fares affordable for the flying public. AirTran should be commended for their expansion, and I encourage them to look at other destinations throughout New York."

"This is great news for Westchester Airport and for the entire Hudson Valley," Senator Charles E. Schumer said. "New low cost service will increase competition and bring down fares throughout the region, which is good for consumers and for attracting new businesses. AirTran choosing Westchester proves yet again that the Hudson Valley is a strong market for low cost service, and I promise to fight to bring more low-cost air service to the region."
