These new flights will be served with Spirit Airbus A319 aircraft holding 138 passengers with 8 in Spirit Plus, Business Class and 130 in comfortable coach class. Spirit will complete its transition to an all new Airbus fleet by this fall.

"Detroit is exceedingly important to Spirit. Our company was founded here and half of our employees call Michigan home," said Barry Biffle, Chief Marketing Officer of Spirit Airlines. "We're thrilled to add new East and West Coast service this summer. Detroit is in need of affordable service to San Francisco and we know that we provide great value. Jets with all leather seats, moveable headrests, extra large overhead bins coupled with our low fares and great destinations make us the perfect choice for Detroit travelers this summer and for years to come."

"We're very pleased with Spirit's decision to increase service out of Detroit Metro Airport," said Lester Robinson, Wayne County Airport Authority CEO. "The San Francisco Bay Area ranks as one of our largest markets, and one that we previously identified as underserved. This new service will increase access for both business and leisure travelers."
