Tulsa Airport Authority Ambassadors Sporting a Brighter Look

Posted on: Monday, 13 February 2006, 21:00 CST

By John Dobberstein

The Tulsa Airport Authority has begun new efforts to increase customer service at its airports.

Travelers who notice the change might feel a little blue.

Airport ambassadors at Tulsa International Airport are now wearing royal blue suit coats. The old maroon-colored jackets have been ditched.

Airport officials said they chose the bright blue coats because they're easier for travelers to see from a distance.

The volunteers work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., every day of the year.

The royal blue looks very classy, said Mary Smith, marketing director. They were kind of a wine color, which doesn't stand out a lot with all the dark colors here.

Comment boxes will also be placed throughout both Tulsa International and Jones airports, Smith said.

At Jones, there will be places at Christiansen Jet Center and Roadhouse Aviation.

Jones Airport is where the bulk of general aviation customers come in. While there aren't scads of commercial customers, it is still important for pilots to be served properly, Smith said.

That's an airport where it's a different ballgame. But we still want to know what people who use that airport think, she said.

At Tulsa International, the comment boxes will be placed at the three information stations, next to the flight information display screens on the concourses, and at fixed-based operators near the airfields like BizJet, Mercury Aviation and US Aviation.
