DEWITT, N.Y., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Sensis Corporation today announced that Airports Authority of India awarded the company a contract in the first quarter of Sensis FY2006 to deploy its Advanced-Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi. IGI handled 12,209,570 passengers in 2004 -- a 23% increase over 2003. Sensis A-SMGCS will provide air traffic controllers with increased visibility on the runways, taxiways and apron areas for increased throughput and safety. Further, the system will also enable the airport to avoid delays due to fog in the winter.
Sensis A-SMGCS is the world's only fully integrated, tested and commissioned Level 2 A-SMGCS. Sensis' A-SMGCS has been commissioned by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and is being deployed to 35 U.S. airports. The system is currently operational at the General Mitchell International Airport (Milwaukee, WI.), Orlando International Airport, William P. Hobby International Airport (Houston, TX.), Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and T.F. Green Airport (Providence, RI.).
"Sensis offers unparalleled A-SMGCS experience. Sensis deploys its A-SMGCS technologies to more of the top 300 airports than any other company," said Marc Viggiano, president, Sensis Air Traffic Systems.
Sensis A-SMGCS utilizes multiple surveillance sources including a multilateration system with a flexible architecture that allows for coverage in the most complex airport environment, an ADS-B vehicle tracking system and a robust multi-sensor fusion processor to provide a comprehensive surveillance picture of the airport surface. This surveillance data is presented to the controller on an integrated display that features an interface developed in full consultation with air traffic controllers. Additionally, Sensis A-SMGCS includes runway incursion safety alerting, the ability to process data from more than one surface movement radar and integration with various external and legacy systems.
