Beijing, 14 February: "Made in China" products enrich American lives and have helped that country save billions of dollars in the past decade, said a Chinese official at the China-US Business Forum held here Tuesday [14 February].
"The American people have enjoyed the cheap prices of made-in- China products, and according to a Morgan Stanley report, in the past ten years, these cheap products have helped save 600bn US dollars for the country," said Cheng Siwei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
"Products made in China facilitate American lives since people wake up in the morning and go to bed at night, these products vary from alarm clocks, toothbrushes, toothpaste, to sports shoes for jogging, and blankets," he said. "These daily necessities may not have Chinese brands, but most of them are produced in China."
"What I want to say is the trade cooperation between China and the US is actually bringing benefits to both," Cheng said.
"The US market also provides a great deal of job opportunities for China," he added.
China is currently the world's largest developing country and the US is the largest developed one, and the smooth bilateral relationship between the two nations is significant to the whole world, he said.
