East Bohemian Airport (EBA) (Pardubice, Czech Republic), operator of the civil airport in Pardubice, wants to enlarge the airport. Its capacity should increase to 500,000 passengers per year. In Jan 2006 the airport cleared nearly 13,000 passengers. The number of passengers at the airport is estimated at 60,000 persons in 2006, about 11,000 persons more compared to 2005
. This is the maximal capacity. The airport is not able to clear more passengers without the construction of a new clearance lounge. Its main clients are the Russians, who utilize the airport for arrival to the Czech Republic. The enlargement of the airport is dependent on the transfer of lands from the ownership of the army to the property of the city. A strong foreign investor wants to enter EBA. He would bring about CEK 1 bil. The entrance of the investor will be possible after the transfer of the lands. The airport has been in operation since 1995.Source: Access Czech Republic Business Bulletin
