Letter: COMMENT & ANALYSIS – Water Bill Rise ; LETTERS to the EDITOR

February 23, 2006
Repost This

FIRST a gas and electricity hike and now we are told we are going to see water bills rise by an average of 5.5%.

Add this to the 22% energy increase by British Gas and the fact that most local authorities are increasing council tax close to 5 % and you have an inflation-busting recipe.

Meanwhile, the company I work for has rolled out its annual rise again and it’s a fraction under inflation.

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out why house prices and retail spending is slowing down.
