Panda Express, the nation's leader in Asian quick-service restaurants, was honored as the Best Food and Beverage Brand Operator by the prestigious "2006 Best Concessions Poll" conducted by Airport Revenue News, the foremost publication for news and information on airports. The chain was awarded for this distinction during the Airport Revenue Conference in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Feb. 21, edging out 19 nominees.
The annual poll awards, judged by airport retail industry experts, also nominated Panda Express in several other categories including: Food Concept Operator with Highest Regard for Customer Service and Best Airport Food & Beverage Operator.
"We are proud to receive this airport retail industry recognition and feel it's an outcome of our mission to deliver exceptional Asian dining experiences by building an organization where people are inspired to better their lives," said Tom Davin, Panda Restaurant Group's chief executive officer. "Airport venues are a key growth area for Panda Express and we are aggressively pursuing new airport locations. As we continue our national expansion, airports are a critical venue for us to extend the reach of our brand."
Panda Express debuted their first airport restaurant in 1995 at the Denver International Airport in Colorado, and now has seven airport locations nationwide including:
-- Denver International Airport, Colo. (two locations)
-- Portland International Airport, Ore.
-- Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Ky.
-- George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston, Texas
-- Dulles International Airport, Washington, D.C.
-- Boston Logan International Airport, Mass.
The newest Panda Express, in this type of venue, is planned to open at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in April. Airport locations will help the company meet its expansion goals of 175 new Panda Express restaurants by the end of 2006, and their long-term vision of 10,000 restaurants.
