THE world’s largest passenger airliner -the 555-seat Airbus A380 superjumbo -will make its first appearance in the UK this spring.

The giant plane, which will go into passenger service at the end of this year, will fly into Heathrow airport, said BAA Heathrow managing director Tony Douglas.

The Heathrow flight is part of the tests that Toulouse-based Airbus is giving the plane, the wings of which are built at Broughton in Flintshire.

The A380′s flight into Heathrow will be before any appearance it might make at the Farnborough Air Show in Hampshire in July.

The double-decker jet is also expected to make a fly-by at an employees’ open day at the Welsh aerospace plant.

The A380 will enter service with Singapore Airlines later in the year.
