Heating Oil Average Price Drops a Penny a Gallon

The statewide average price for home heating oil dropped a penny a gallon from last week, but is up 22 cents compared to a year ago, the state Office of Energy Independence and Security reported Monday.

The statewide average price is $2.34 a gallon, the office said, and ranges from a low of $2.19 a gallon quoted by a dealer in the western section of the state to a high of $2.47 from a dealer in the eastern portion.

Average prices range from $2.25 a gallon in the western section of the state to $2.39 in the eastern section. The average price in the southwest is $2.35 a gallon, according to the office’s survey of prices.

Average kerosene prices were down a penny a gallon to $2.71, which is 34 cents a gallon higher than a year ago. Propane prices were down 2 cents since last week and up 16 cents since last year to $2.23 a gallon (based on a 600- to 800-gallon domestic heating application).
