First Operation Performed at Foundation Bariatric Hospital

Mar. 28--EDMOND -- Foundation Bariatric Hospital of Oklahoma has performed its first surgical procedure at the Edmond location that once was the Renaissance Women's Hospital, officials said.
Chief nursing officer Tammy Drum said the hospital's surgical specialists include bariatric surgeons, gastrointestinal physicians and anesthesiologists. Medical specialists include bariatricians, pulmanologists, cardiologists, internal medicine, pathologists and radiologists.
Bariatrics is a field of medicine that offers treatment for overweight persons that is accompanied by various programs that include diet and nutrition, exercise, behavior modification and lifestyle changes.
Foundation Bariatric Affiliates, at 1800 S Renaissance Blvd., is a subsidiary of Oklahoma City-based Foundation Surgery Affiliates. A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new hospital will be at 5:30 p.m. April 27.
