AMT Adds Shows Starring Rivera and DeGarmo to Lineup

Mar. 29–”Chita Rivera: A Dancer’s Life” and a production of “Brooklyn: The Musical” with Diana DeGarmo are coming to the American Musical Theatre of San Jose.
Two-time Tony winner Rivera will play herself March 6-11, 2007, tearing through tunes from “West Side Story” (she was the original Anita on Broadway) and “Chicago.”"Brooklyn,” an urban fairy tale about a young girl searching for fame, will run this summer from Aug. 9-13. DeGarmo, first noticed on TV’s “American Idol,” recently played Maria in “West Side Story” at AMT.
The season also will include an Elvis’-greatest-hits tuner, “All Shook Up,” June 19-24, 2007. All three shows are non-subscription offerings. Tickets will be $26-$73.
The previously announced subscription lineup includes ’80s teen queen Molly Ringwald in “Sweet Charity,” Sept. 19-Oct. 1; Michael York in “Camelot,” Jan. 30-Feb. 11, 2007; the con-artist comedy “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” May 1-13, 2007; and homegrown productions of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “The King and I” (Oct. 31-Nov. 12), “Christmas Dreamland” (Nov. 24-Dec. 24) and “42nd Street” (April 10-22, 2007).
