Boeing Reports 98 Plane Deliveries in 1Q

CHICAGO – Boeing Co., the world’s second-largest commercial airplane manufacturer behind Airbus SAS, said Monday it delivered 98 commercial planes in the first quarter, up 40 percent from the same period a year ago.

The deliveries included 72 of its single-aisle 737 and 17 widebody 777s along with four 747s, three 767s and two 717 jets.

The company also delivered 27 military aircraft in the quarter: 10 F/A-18 fighter jets, nine AH-64D attack helicopters, four C-17 cargo planes and four T-45TS aircraft.

Boeing shares rose 59 cents to close at $78.60 on the New York Stock Exchange, just off last Thursday’s all-time high of $79.50. The stock is up 12 percent this year after rising 36 percent in 2005.
