E-Cycling Day By the Bay

Posted on: Tuesday, 11 April 2006, 12:00 CDT

Continuing its tradition as the electronic waste recycling leader, HMR USA Inc, is hosting, with the help of Electronic Recyclers, the 2nd Annual e-Cycling Day by the Bay, a free electronic waste recycling event with the San Francisco Department of the Environment and its Green Business Program.

What: For the collection event, HMR will accept for recycling, any electronic items such as computers, mainframes, monitors, printers, cables, telephones, consumer electronics, printed circuit boards, and televisions, at no cost to local consumers and businesses. When: Saturday, April 22, 2006, 8am to 5pm Where: SF Giants Stadium, Parking Lot A

"With the advent of SB20," said HMR's CEO John Bekiaris, "we need to spread the word to consumers about responsible and sustainable recycling of their electronic waste- and what better way to do that, than to sponsor a free collection event which is open to anyone and everyone."

"We are thrilled to be involved with this important event," said Electronics Recyclers CEO (and HMR recycling partner) John S. Shegerian. "It's a terrific opportunity to educate the general public about where and how to recycle their electronic waste."

At the e-Cycling Day by the Bay event last year, HMR collected over 110,000 pounds of e-waste, successfully diverting that amount from local landfills - they hope to double that amount this year.

As a thank you to the San Francisco community, HMR will be refurbishing and donating a portion of collected computers to be distributed to local charities. HMR will also be giving away 3 DVD players an hour to randomly selected consumers who drop off their used electronics.
