Picket Planned at Airport
By Duluth News-Tribune, Minn.
Apr. 13–Mesaba Airlines employees plan to protest proposed wage and benefit cuts at the Chisholm/Hibbing Airport from 3:45 to 5 p.m. today.
Similar informational pickets will be established at four other Minnesota airports this week as part of a union campaign to raise awareness of the bankrupt airline’s efforts to reduce pay and benefits for pilots, flight attendants and mechanics by more than 19 percent during the next six years. On average, Mesaba Airlines pilots, mechanics and flight attendants earn yearly salaries of $45,000, $32,000 and $21,000, respectively.
