UAL Corporation, parent of United Airlines, has announced that as part of the company's ongoing improvement efforts, it is consolidating its airport operations and cargo divisions into one organization.
The Chicago-based carrier, which reported a 10.9% rise in cargo ton miles for April, said the new entity will be led by Scott Dolan, who was previously senior vice president of the firm's cargo operations.
"Consolidating airport operations and cargo under Scott's leadership will further streamline United's operations, drive efficiencies and produce additional cost savings," stated Pete McDonald, executive vice president and COO for UAL.
Mr Dolan joined UAL in 2004 from Atlas Worldwide Holdings, where he was senior vice president and COO responsible for the day-to-day operations for both Atlas Air and Polar Cargo.
Commenting on the announced changes, UAL president, chairman and CEO Glenn Tilton said, "I am confident as we move into the next phase of the company's transformation, that these changes will accelerate our progress to be more competitive and performance driven."
