May 9--Q: What's up with the new speed limit on Avenue of the Arts between Jefferson and Warwick? On one side, the speed limit is posted 25 miles per hour, but in the opposite direction, the speed limit is 45.
A:
What's up is the continuing big construction project on Warwick Boulevard. The speed limit is 25 mph on Avenue of the Arts - also known as J. Clyde Morris Boulevard - heading toward the construction area. For traffic traveling away from the construction, the speed limit is unchanged at 45 mph. Kim Lee, Newport News public information officer, said the speed limit would be 25 mph in all construction zones on Warwick.
