May 9--Police have identified the man whose body was found floating in a lake on April 23 in Pembroke Pines.
The body of Dane Paris, 20, of Hollywood was found in a quiet neighborhood called Chapel Lake Estates subdivision, police said.
Paris' death has been ruled as an accidental drowning, said Sgt. John Jacob, a spokesman for the Pembroke Pines Police Department.
Paris, a graduate of Hallandale High School, lived in the 7100 block of Southwest Fifth Court in Pembroke Pines with his cousin, Jason Chin, and his aunt.
Paris was working as an air-conditioning technician, fixing broken machines.
Chin said Paris liked playing video games -- especially ones with flying themes. He wanted to become a pilot, Chin said.
Paris was going to hang out at a friend's house in Pembroke Pines on Thursday, April 20, Chin said. Then, Chin received a phone call the next day from the friend informing him that Paris' black Acura Integra was still outside.
Chin went to the scene. He said he remembers seeing his cousin's shoes left mysteriously by the lake.
The family and friends posted fliers around the community, hoping to find Paris.
The family was called in to identify the body days after it was found, but police were waiting on dental records to confirm the identity.
Paris' body was cremated last Wednesday and services were held at a church in Miami, the family said.
