May 29--THE PROBLEM
Lori Klemann and her husband Frank Egan, of Oakland Park, contacted the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, concerned about a utility pole that is leaning toward their property. With the hurricane season about to begin, they worry the pole could fall and damage their home.
THE BACK STORY
Egan contacted Florida Power & Light Co. before the 2005 hurricane season. Some of the lines on the pole were low, so workers shortened them to get them off his roof. But they didn't replace the pole. Rebecca Petrone, a neighbor who has been researching the problem, recently discovered the pole belonged to BellSouth. Marta Casas-Celaya, spokewoman for BellSouth, said the company would replace the pole, if warranted. On Thursday afternoon, workers arrived to replace the pole. After installation, she said, companies will coordinate the transfer of electric, telephone or cable service, and moving their wires to the new pole. Next, BellSouth will remove the old pole. This process is "usually seamless," Casas-Celaya said.
WHO FIXED THIS
Edward Salinetro of BellSouth.
UPDATE
Solved: Street signs replaced at roundabouts in Pompano Beach.
Who fixed this: Greg Lovaglio, sign superintendent of Broward County Traffic Engineering Division.
