May 29--THE PROBLEM
Lisa D'Augelli called the Sun-Sentinel concerned about missing traffic signals on Potomac Road in Boca Raton. The busy intersection at Potomac and St. Andrews Boulevard had left turn signals for a brief time last fall, D'Augelli said. She thinks the signals made the intersection "much safer."
THE BACK STORY
Just before Hurricane Wilma hit last October, construction was completed to include left turn lanes from Potomac Road to St. Andrews Boulevard.
Douglas Hess, Boca Raton's traffic engineer, confirms that the lanes were built. But installation of the left turn signals was interrupted when Boca Raton had to turn its attention to restoring service that was missing after Hurricane Wilma. Hess appreciated the reminder and said the arrows should be back in two weeks.
WHO CAN FIX THIS
Douglas Hess, traffic engineer for Boca Raton, 561-416-3372.
