City Gets Funds for Water System Upgrades

May 25--The city of Marsing has received a U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Grant of $540,000 and a direct loan for $1.7 million for a new well and other water system improvements.
The project will include a new filtration system, a new water storage tank and a booster station with stand-by power. Distribution system improvements also are slated.
"We have been working with the city over the past several years to assist in getting the project ready," said Mike Field, state director. "These improvements will alleviate the problems the city has faced with their water and build up the infrastructure in Marsing, which is crucial for the future of the county."
The city also received a Community Development Block Grant for $432,000, bringing the project funds to $972,000 in grants.
