May 30–KUWAIT — Bayan Cooperative recently opened a special exhibition to promote Egyptian products in all its branches from May 28 to June 14. The exhibition is being held under the auspices of the Hawally governor, Maj Gen Abdul Allah Al-Fares. The Egyptian ambassador to Kuwait, Abdul Raheem Shalabi, the Egyptian counsel to Kuwait Ahmed Abdellah and the general manager of Bayan co-operative, Ahmed Shehata, also attended the launch.

A special ceremony was held for the occasion at the newly built co-op branch in Area 2 of Bayan. The ceremony included traditional Egyptian dance and music, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a tour inside supermarket-to review the various Egyptian products on display.

Governor Al-Fares, his accompanying Kuwaiti dignitaries and customers expressed their admiration at the variety, prices and quality of products-that included foodstuffs, household utensils and clothes.

Following the tour, the guests were welcomed to a tent were an authentic Egyptian atmosphere was recreated — including miniatures of a historic Egyptian cafe in old Cairo-Al-Feshawi-along with other bakeries and restaurants. The guests were welcomed at Al-Fesahwi with traditional Egyptian foods and beverages including the Feshawi’s famous mint-tea.

Afterwards, a cake was cut-that recreated a photograph of HH the Amir and President Mubarak-and an inscription that read: Brothers forever.
