NAAPRA Honors Wall Street Journal’s Susan Carey With Eugene DuBois Award for Journalism Excellence

June 2, 2006

NEW YORK, June 2 /PRNewswire/ — The North American Airlines Public Relations Association (NAAPRA), an association comprising public relations representatives from commercial airlines, airports and industry partners, today announced that veteran aviation journalist Susan Carey of The Wall Street Journal is this year’s recipient of the prestigious “Eugene DuBois Award” for excellence in aviation journalism.

Presented annually to an aviation journalist who best exemplifies the highest levels of reporting and journalistic excellence, Ms. Carey was honored with the award at a luncheon held at the Peninsula Hotel New York and attended by previous award recipients, as well as the NAAPRA membership.

“Susan has been brilliantly covering the airline beat for many years and has long deserved industry recognition for her contributions to The Wall Street Journal and its readers. We look forward to continue to read her well- researched, informative and insightful stories,” said John Lampl, Vice President, Corporate Communications Americas for British Airways and NAAPRA’s Chairman.

Ms. Carey, a 25-year veteran of The Wall Street Journal, has covered the airline industry for 20 years, first in Brussels covering European aviation and aerospace, then in Hong Kong responsible for Asian airlines and aerospace. Since 1993 she has been based in Chicago covering airlines ranging from Hawaiian and Alaska to United and JetBlue. Born in France and raised in Central America, Ms. Carey started her journalism career in 1977 at The Arizona Republic, where, fittingly, she covered the Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization (PATCO) strike and the founding of America West.
