Cal Poly Grad Ceremonies Last 2 Weekends: First One is Sunday From College of Education

Jun. 1--More than 3,700 Cal Poly students are set to graduate in seven separate graduation ceremonies over the next two weekends.

There are more individual ceremonies than in past years because of construction on Alex Spanos Stadium, known as the former Mustang Stadium. Cal Poly officials are predicting that 36,000 visitors will come to the campus for commencement ceremonies.

A total of 77 graduates from the College of Education will start the celebrations with a commencement set for Sunday June 4 in the Performing Arts Center at 9 a.m.

The other commencement ceremonies are scheduled for the following weekend:

Saturday, June 10--

8:30 a.m. -- The College of Agriculture will graduate 791 students on the Upper Sports Field.

10 a.m. -- The College of Science and Mathematics will graduate 322 students at the Recreation Center.

1:30 p.m. -- The College of Engineering will graduate 869 students at 1:30 p.m. on the Upper Sports Field. Jeet Bindra, president of global refining for Chevron Corporation, will give the keynote address

3 p.m. -- The College of Architecture and Environmental Design will graduate 398 students at the Rec Center.

6:30 p.m. -- The College of Business will graduate 540 students on the Upper Sports Field. Kara Blakeslee, financial planner at Blakeslee & Blakeslee, will give the keynote address.

June 11:

10 a.m. -- The College of Liberal Arts will graduate 727 graduates at 10 a.m. on the Upper Sports Field. The keynote speaker is mystery novelist Nevada Barr, author of a series of books on a national park ranger who fights crime.
