Jun. 6--Four Paso Robles High School seniors won a water-walking competition Monday at Centennial Pool.
The idea was for groups of physics students to create water shoes allowing one group member to shuffle across the 105-foot municipal pool in a race.
The team of James Harper, Luis Campoverde, Devon Mailhot and Cody Heffner won with a time of 1:54.
The team created a flotation device made from body boards fashioned with lock-in sandals and hinges attached to wooden flaps underneath.
Sixteen teams competed. Four finished the race, and the others did not successfully walk on water.
