American Airlines Introduces AAdvance Bag Check Program

Posted on: Tuesday, 6 June 2006, 12:00 CDT

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines, a founding member of the global oneworld(R) alliance, is pleased to announce the AAdvance Bag Check(SM) program, a convenient service that allows passengers to enjoy the ease of checking in and dropping off their luggage for American Airlines flights at remote locations.

The service is currently available onboard ships at various cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Norwegian, as well as at hotels and various convention centers throughout the United States. Travelers can check in and drop off their luggage for their American, American Eagle and AmericanConnections(R) airline domestic flight up to 24 hours in advance at the AAdvance Bag Check station. Baggage is then transported directly to the departure airport and passengers do not have to deal with their luggage until they land at their final destination.

In addition to checking in their luggage, passengers also receive their boarding passes, allowing them to go directly to security screening when they arrive at the airport.

The development of the AAdvance Bag Check program started in the Spring 2005, when American tested this service with various cruise lines. In addition to the cruise line service, the program is currently available in more than 34 locations, including:

* 19 Disney resorts and hotels in Orlando, Fla. * McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago, Ill. * Moscone Center in San Francisco * Hilton Grand Vacation Club in Honolulu * Hyatt Regency in Dallas

"We are excited to now offer AAdvance Bag Check service to more of our customers," said Mark Mitchell, American's Managing Director of Airport Operations. "This service will enhance the travel experience for our passengers, allowing them to enjoy their trip more and worry less. Being able to skip check-in and baggage lines at the airport is a convenience we know our customers will find extremely helpful."

AAdvance Bag Check service will be provided by Baggage Airline Guest Services, Inc. (BAGS), an Orlando-based hospitality company dedicated to remote airport check-in service. American Airlines has been working with BAGS to develop this fully-integrated, customer-centric remote check-in service.

The cost for cruise-goers to use AAdvance Bag Check service varies from $10-$20, depending on the cruise line. For passengers checking in at a hotel or convention center, the cost for the service is $10 per person.
