Aberdeen: Toto Look-Alike Contest Planned

Posted on: Tuesday, 6 June 2006, 12:01 CDT

By American News, Aberdeen, S.D.

Jun. 6--This weekend's Oz Festival/The Dakota Heritage includes a Toto Look-alike Dog Contest.

Dogs of any breed and size are invited to participate. The event will be Saturday at 11:15 a.m. in Wylie Park's Land of Oz.

Entrants will only be judged only on physical similarities to Toto, Dorothy's faithful companion from the classic MGM musical movie of 1939. The contest is open to all dogs regardless of appearance. The dog that looks most like Toto wins first place and the dog that looks "kind of like" Toto takes second place, while the dog that looks least like Toto wins third.

In the interest of public and animal safety, all dogs must be current with vaccinations, must be kept on a leash at all times (exceptions will be made for performing tricks) and females must not be in season. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs and it is advised to bring your own water.

Registration for the Toto Look-alike contest will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Oz Fest information booth.

For additional information, call Suzette McQuillen at (605) 226-3691.

The Oz Festival/The Dakota Heritage runs Friday and Saturday.
