Search Continues for Nine Missing Boaters
By Idy Fernandez, The Miami Herald
Jun. 12–The Coast Guard continues to search this morning for nine missing boaters off the coast of Boynton Beach, Miami Herald news partner WFOR-CBS4 reported.
The boaters, four of them children, were fishing along Boynton Beach Sunday when the boat began taking on water and sinking, according to CBS4. The captain made a distress call at 11 p.m. to the Coast Guard, who instructed the boaters to put on their life jackets and remain in a huddle to make it easier for rescue vessels to find the group.
The boaters used a handheld radio to stay in contact with the Coast Guard until the radio broke down, CBS4 reported. It is believed the captain’s wife suffered a leg injury when the boat capsized.
