TelTel Facilitates Rapid Deployment of VoIP Service for Peer Telecom; French Internet Telephony Provider Offers VoIP Service Using TelTel's SVNO Program

TelTel, a provider of SIP-based global Internet telephony services, announced today that Peer Telecom is using TelTel's SVNO (SIP Virtual Network Operator) program to deliver its Eggee VoIP telephony service in France. The SVNO program provides Peer Telecom with a whole suite of solutions including a managed network, branded hardware devices, and softphone client, enabling rapid deployment of global Internet telephony based on the open Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).
The Eggee service is targeted at the SMB and SOHO markets, and offers its customers the ability to call more than 130 destinations for the cost of a local call. By partnering with TelTel, Peer Telecom is also offering its users free access to over 1.5 million worldwide users of Public SIP Telephony Network (PsipTN), and to more than 30 million VoIP users of SIP. Peer Telecom can also use the PsipTN to deploy value-added VoIP services (e.g. conference calling and desktop sharing) that drive new revenue opportunities.
The SVNO program enables Peer Telecom to rapidly deploy Eggee. Peer Telecom was able to take advantage of TelTel's proven managed peer to peer platform, ready-made softphone client, competitively priced SIP termination and origination services, and seamless billing system integration through TelTel's billing APIs. Through leveraging the SVNO Program, Peer Telecom eliminated the cost of building and maintaining its own VoIP architecture.
"Peer to peer managed networks is the best alternative to Centrex solutions for the SMB and SOHO market," said Micha Benoliel, founder of Peer Telecom. "TelTel's SVNO program allowed us to rapidly deploy the Eggee service and offer our customers a standards-based solution that cost-effectively connects them all over the world via the PsipTN."
Eggee is marketed by Peer Telecom, the Internet telephony services branch of high-tech France-based company Digitrad, specialized in the development of innovating solutions with high added value. Instead of relying on proprietary protocols, the SVNO program provides Peer Telecom with a solution based on SIP, which is fast becoming the industry standard. This enables the Eggee service to interoperate with virtually all SIP providers and SIP-based devices.
"Eggee is an exciting new service that is bringing high-quality VoIP service to the SMB and SOHO markets," said Jack Chang, Chief Operating Officer of TelTel. "This allows us to help Peer Telecom break new technological ground in offering their customers the communications services needed to compete globally."
