Jun. 14--National Fuel Gas Co. is launching an economic development program that will make $750,000 in grants to businesses for natural gas-related projects over the next five years, the Amherst energy company said.
The program, which was approved recently by the state Public Service Commission, is designed to encourage investment in infrastructure at under-used industrial or commercial sites, including brownfields.
Projects that create new or more lucrative employment opportunities also are eligible for the grant program, as are certain initiatives to provide work force training or efforts that stimulate private investment needed to create jobs.
Information on the program is available by calling 857-7776 or in the "for business" section of the National Fuel Web site at www.nationalfuelgas.com.
