FORT WORTH, Texas, June 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines Cargo Division announced today that online booking functionality is now live on Cargo Portal Services (CPS), a multi-carrier electronic booking and shipment management service for the air cargo industry, supported by Unisys.
American's participation in CPS will provide its air cargo customers with an additional Web-based portal to access the 6.1 billion pounds of American Airlines Cargo capacity and nearly 200,000 flights available annually. CPS will offer bookings on all of American's cargo products, including Expedite fs(SM), which carries a 100% guarantee that the shipment will be flown as booked.
"Going live on CPS signifies an important milestone in the evolution of our e-commerce strategy," said Dave Brooks - President of American Airlines Cargo Division. "Our goal has been to enable customer self-sufficiency through online booking and shipment management solutions that address the specific needs of each customer segment, and we are delighted to now offer our customers three channels for online cargo bookings. We're pleased that the forwarding industry has been so supportive of our decision to join CPS."
In addition to CPS, American Airlines Cargo provides e-business channels through its AACargo.com Web site, and through London-based Global Freight Exchange (GF-X). These e-business channels provide the opportunity to save customers money by reducing transactions costs and other expenses.
"Unisys and the CPS community welcome American Airlines, since American adds a significant network to the service and helps to build a strong and growing community that is leading the adoption of Internet services in the air cargo industry," said Christopher Shawdon - Vice President and Partner, Logistics Services for Unisys.
