Jun. 24--A fatal hit-and-run collision on Interstate 10 near Benson had westbound traffic on the highway closed for several hours Friday night.
Investigators had few details, but said the incident began about 9 p.m. when Border Patrol agents pulled over a white Chevrolet pickup truck headed westbound.
When the pickup pulled into the median, one man ran from the truck into traffic, said Officer Jim Oien, a Department of Public Safety spokesman.
The man was fatally struck by a vehicle that didn't stop, Oien said.
The car was described as a blue mid-1990s Buick. Police were still searching for the vehicle late Friday, Oien said.
