SkyWest Receives FAA's Aviation Maintenance Technician Gold Award

ST. GEORGE, Utah, July 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SkyWest Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyWest, Inc., is honored to receive the FAA's Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Gold Award for outstanding attendance in initial and recurrent maintenance training.

SkyWest is the proud recipient of the Gold Certificate of Excellence for the second consecutive year, as 30 percent of their eligible employees received individual AMT awards. AMT awards are presented to companies based on the percentage of employees who receive individual AMT awards each year.
Special recognition goes to the SkyWest maintenance employees in Colorado Springs, Denver, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Tucson for Diamond level participation in the program. In addition, Salt Lake City a Silver Award and Palm Springs earned Bronze. Each of the five award levels, beginning with the Bronze Award and ending with the Diamond Award, require additional training beyond standard FAA training on regulations and policy.
SkyWest Airlines employs 565 maintenance professionals who maintain its fleet of 242 aircraft that embark on more than 1,500 departures each day. SkyWest was named the Number One On-Time Mainland Airline in the United States by the Department of Transportation for 2003, 2004 and 2005, years in which it served more than 40 million passengers.
