Sun Country Airlines Ranks Third in Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards List of Top Domestic Airlines

Sun Country Airlines announced today that it has been ranked third on the list of Top Domestic Airlines in Travel + Leisure's 2006 World's Best Awards readers' survey. The St. Paul-based, low-cost carrier was ranked among all domestic carriers including large, legacy airlines and other low-cost carriers.
"We have worked very hard to develop a model for airline service and product offering," said Shaun Nugent, CEO of Sun Country. "It is very satisfying to receive the national recognition of our efforts and to be considered among the elite carriers in the United States."
Sun Country joins Jet Blue, Midwest Airlines, Southwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines at the top of the list. The dominance of low-fare carriers on Travel & Leisure's World's Best list signals a shift in consumer preference in air travel. The list is the result of an annual readers' poll that covers characteristics including cabin comfort, food, in-flight service, customer service, and value.
Sun Country differentiates itself in the marketplace by promoting personalized service at consistently low fares as well as providing convenient service out of the Humphrey Terminal. Despite industry trends, Sun Country continues to offer free hot meals on a fleet of new Boeing 737's. The airline has recently added permanent service to Washington, D.C. to its schedule as it continues to attract more cost-conscience business travelers.
"This award truly is a tribute to our employees and their collective commitment to serving our passengers," said Nugent. "I want to publicly thank them for their commitment to making this airline a success. As Sun Country continues to grow, I am confident that these efforts will continue to be recognized by publications like Travel + Leisure."
Travel + Leisure's 2006 World's Best Awards list will be featured in the August issue, and the results can be viewed on Travel + Leisure's website at http://www.travelandleisure.com.
