Port of San Francisco Selects Accela for New Automated E-Government Solution

Posted on: Monday, 17 July 2006, 09:00 CDT

Accela, Inc., the leading provider of government enterprise management software solutions, announced today that the Port of San Francisco, California has selected Accela Automation(R) to be implemented as its new permit and land management solution. The solution will be utilized by the Port's Engineering Division Permit Group (EDPG) to provide a robust, user-friendly system for its staff with powerful reporting analysis on all permitting related to piers and other port-owned property.

Thirty end-users in the EDPG will transition from a paper-based, spreadsheet process to Accela's Web-based solution for recording and tracking all building permits and enforcement fees, coordinating building plan reviews, recording and tracking inspections, code enforcement, complaint tracking, and building code compliance. These services are provided for all of the port's facilities: piers, structures, buildings, cranes, utilities, public and private areas, development projects, streets and walkways.

"As we prepare for anticipated growth in construction on port-owned property, it is essential to find ways to do our jobs more efficiently," said Ed Byrne, Port Chief Harbor Engineer. "Accela's automated system gives us the tools to work more efficiently and provide higher levels of service to our customers."

"The Port of San Francisco's unique and varied permitting responsibilities showcase how effectively Accela Automation can be applied," stated Accela President and CEO Robert P. Lee. "Our enterprise software solutions can support all aspects of permitting, and span across many departments and agencies within a single jurisdiction."

Accela partnered with its service partner Xtech to provide the Port of San Francisco with this e-government solution.
