Produce Safety and Security International, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: PDSC), an ozone and chemical sanitation disinfectant process supplier to the food and medical industries, announces that its new division, Innovative Food Systems ("IFS"), has started production of the first ozone ice machines for delivery to the seafood industry Retail Chain Clients.
The process will include storage, distribution center, and retail store department. This will be a constant process until the customer takes the product home. Ozone leaves no residue in the water or on the product, (because it breaks down back to oxygen) means no change in color or flavor. Using ozone gives more assurance against bacteria organisms and at the same time, conserves water and extends the shelf life of the product. There are two steps in most cleaning procedures: first, cleaning the surface areas and removing the organic residues in which the bacteria live; secondly, sanitizing is done to destroy any bacteria remaining on the surface. Five years of research and development and three years of validation by the University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, have confirmed IFS's ability to extend the shelf life of perishable Seafood by as much as 5 days. In addition, the test protocol achieved up to a 99.9% reduction of microorganisms including pathogens such as Salmonella, Listeria, and E-coli 0157 H: 07.
Clarence W. Karney, CEO of Produce Safety & Security International, states, "Innovative Food Systems has developed an active seafood industry solution, from the retail store seafood department to the end customer, this process addresses two of the most serious problems. Shelf life extension of seafood is extremely important, because of its direct effect on the bottom line for those companies using the process. This process at the retail level offers an inexpensive and easy to implement technology that can begin paying for itself upon installation. These units will be ready for delivery to our client base by the first week of August 2006. Our customer base is waiting for the first delivery."
