SCE Seeks Out Customers With Long Service Interruptions; Utility Asks These Customers to Call for Assistance.

In an effort to ensure that no one is overlooked, Southern California Edison (SCE) is seeking out customers who have not had power for at least the past 24 hours due to the current heat wave. SCE is asking these customers to call its toll-free number immediately for assistance: 800-655-4555.
SCE has been attempting to call customers that its records indicate have been without power for more than 24 hours. The utility believes approximately 500 customers remain without power in widely scattered communities, including Fontana, Fullerton, La Mirada, Lynwood, Mission Viejo, Orange, Porterville, Stanton, Tulare, and Visalia.
"We want to be sure that no isolated incidents are overlooked," said Lynda Ziegler, SCE senior vice president for customer service. "If there are Edison customers who have been without power for at least the past 24 hours and have not heard from us, we want to hear from them immediately."
Overtaxed equipment, lightning strikes and wind storms have caused service interruptions of varying durations for more than a million SCE customers since July 13. SCE crews have worked extended hours in the stifling heat in an effort to eliminate the power outages.
SCE officials said nonstop restoration efforts will continue throughout Southern California, with priority being given to areas with extended outages.
An Edison International (NYSE:EIX) company, Southern California Edison is one of the nation's largest electric utilities, serving a population of more than 13 million via 4.7 million customer accounts in a 50,000-square-mile service area within central, coastal and Southern California.
