Lightning Causes Amtrak Service Delay
July 28, 2006
A lightning strike that knocked out a signal in Virginia on the main East Coast rail line has caused significant delays for Amtrak service south of Washington.
The national rail passenger company said CSX, which owns the line at that point, has no estimate on when the signal will be repaired. The strike occurred between Possum Point and Quantico.
Anyone catching a train on the Northeast Corridor should call or go online to check on delays, Amtrak said. Delays were running at one to three hours on Friday.
