Country Pure Foods Purchases Portion Cup Business From Vitality Foodservice, Inc.

Vitality Foodservice, Inc. announced today it has reached an agreement in principal for the sale of its portion cups business to Country Pure Foods, LLC, an independent juice processor headquartered in Akron, Ohio. The terms of the sale have been approved by the boards of directors for both companies, subject to certain contingencies. The transaction is expected to be finalized in the next 60 days.
"The transition of the cups category is part of an overall strategy to focus on our core business which is value-added, dispensed beverages," said Vitality CEO, Gary Viljoen. "The cups business represented a small portion of Vitality's total beverage enterprise which serves the foodservice market around the globe with innovative beverages and beverage serving solutions."
According to Raymond Lee, CEO of Country Pure Foods, "This acquisition is ideal in that it increases our market share of the portions category, a business we supply to healthcare organizations, schools, airlines and correctional institutions under the Ardmore Farms(R) brand."
