Airport Security Lines Normalized Quickly

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration has revealed that security lines at U.S. airports returned to normal five days after the latest terror scare.

Records from the TSA show that the average wait time at 13 of the nation’s 80 major airports reached 90 minutes on Aug. 10 after liquids were banned on flights due to a terrorist plot to down U.S.-bound flights was foiled by British authorities, USA Today reported Wednesday. Five additional airports had security checkpoint lines exceeding two hours, the data revealed.

However, as of Aug. 15, only four airports had wait times in excess of 30 minutes at checkpoints.

Mike Restovich, chief of security-operations at the TSA, said the return to normalcy was in part due to many passengers choosing to check luggage they would otherwise carry on.

The TSA has said the ban on liquids will remain in place indefinitely.
