Verizon Wireless Opens Store Within BJ's Wholesale Club

WOBURN, Mass., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless today announced expansion of its retail presence in New England with the addition of a new Communications Store in BJ's Wholesale Club located at 901 Technology Center Drive in Stoughton, Massachusetts.
Through its relationship with BJ's Wholesale Club (BJ's), Verizon Wireless has extended its 'store-within-a-store' concept to provide convenient shopping access for customers interested in purchasing or upgrading wireless equipment, plans and accessories.
Verizon Wireless' 'store-within-a-store' concept began approximately 18 months ago when the company opened stores in Circuit City -- quickly followed by the opening of more than 130 kiosks in BJ's Wholesale Club locations nationwide. In addition to the new Stoughton location, Verizon Wireless operates a dozen kiosks in BJ's Wholesale Clubs throughout Massachusetts located in Attleboro, Auburn, Chicopee, Danvers, Dedham, Hyannis, Medford, North Dartmouth, Plymouth, Stoneham, Taunton and Weymouth. The kiosk in Stoughton will create five new retail sales and management positions.

Strong demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the second quarter of 2006 as the company added 1.8 million net new customers and posted a record-breaking low customer turnover rate of 1.1%, well below the rate reported by the other major wireless carriers.
BJ's members will be able to take advantage of the same convenient services available at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores. Verizon Wireless will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the BJ's kiosks, including hiring, inventory, displays and any interior or exterior signage. The new Stoughton-based Verizon Wireless store in BJ's Wholesale Club is open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 9 pm, and on Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm.
