Verizon Wireless Opens Derby and Willimantic Stores Within BJ's Wholesale Clubs

DERBY and WILLIMANTIC, Conn., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon Wireless is expanding its retail presence in New England with the addition of two new Communications Stores, opening October 2, in BJ's Wholesale Clubs located at 20 Division Street in Derby and 1589 Main Street in Willimantic.
Through its relationship with BJ's Wholesale Club (BJ's), Verizon Wireless has extended its 'store-within-a-store' concept to provide convenient shopping access for customers interested in purchasing or upgrading wireless equipment, plans and accessories.
Verizon Wireless' 'store-within-a-store' concept began in 2005 when the company opened stores in Circuit City -- quickly followed by the opening of more than 130 kiosks in BJ's Wholesale Club locations nationwide. In addition to the new Derby and Willimantic locations, Verizon Wireless will open another BJ's Wholesale Club store in Wallingford in November. Other Connecticut Verizon Wireless BJ's locations include Fairfield, North Haven, Waterbury, Waterford and West Hartford.

Strong demand for Verizon Wireless services continued during the second quarter of 2006 as the company added 1.8 million net new customers and posted a record-breaking low customer turnover rate of 1.1%, well below the rate reported by the other major wireless carriers.
BJ's members will be able to take advantage of the same convenient services available at Verizon Wireless Communications Stores. Verizon Wireless will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the BJ's kiosks, including hiring, inventory, displays and any interior or exterior signage.
The new Verizon Wireless stores in BJ's Wholesale Clubs are open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 9 pm, and on Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm. To obtain information and directions to the store, contact the new Derby location directly at 203-671-8878 and Willimantic at 860-456-5624.
