AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Whole Foods Market, the world's leading natural and organic foods supermarket and the first national certified organic grocer, introduces 365 Organic Everyday Value organic milk available in whole, fat free, 1 percent and 2 percent varieties. The milk is produced and distributed regionally throughout the United States as close as possible to the markets in which it is sold, by a cooperative of organic farmers dedicated to pasture-based dairy production and to preserving and expanding family farming as a way of life and a viable system of production.
"At Whole Foods Market, our shoppers trust us to seek out the highest quality foods, and we are excited to have the opportunity to partner with the co-op to offer the highest quality organic milk at an outstanding value," said Perry Abbenante, National Grocery Coordinator. "We have shared our passion for everything organic since we opened our first store in 1980, and our new milk makes it even easier to choose organic."
Certified organic dairy farms meet or exceed the USDA's National Organic Standards, which took effect in October 2002. These standards require that land used for growing organic foods or pasture must have been tended without prohibited substances, such as persistent pesticides or toxic chemicals, for three years prior to certification; farmers and processors must keep detailed records of methods, materials and management practices; and growers and processors must be inspected annually by a third-party certification organization. Organic dairy animals can only be fed organic feed.
Whole Foods Market's new 365 Organic Everyday Value(TM) organic milk is the latest addition to the company's innovative family of private-label products, which are created adhering to strict quality standards and are free of artificial preservatives, colors, flavors, sweeteners and hydrogenated oils. With products ranging from the everyday to the gourmet, Whole Foods Market is a one-stop shop and leading resource for high-quality, innovative foods that meet the needs of all people, no matter what the occasion. The variety of outstanding private label products includes pantry staples, heat-and-serve entrees, indulgent desserts and so much more.
365 Organic Everyday Value(TM) organic milk is available at Whole Foods Market stores nationwide.
