U.S. To Host Major International Event on Integration of Renewable and Distributed Energy into Power System
Posted on: Monday, 2 October 2006, 12:00 CDT
IDC's Energy Insights, a leading provider of research-based advisory services for the energy and utilities industries, announces the Second International Conference on Integration of Renewable and Distributed Energy Resources in Napa, CA to be held later this year. The conference, which will bring together more than 250 of the world's top thought leaders and practitioners in the fields of renewable energy (RE) and distributed energy resources (DER), takes place on December 4-8, 2006 at the Marriott Napa Valley Hotel & Spa.
"Concerns about long-term electricity supply and the aging power infrastructure, along with rapidly increasing environmental pressures, have brought to the forefront the issues of how to best integrate emerging renewable and distributed energy resources into tomorrow's 'intelligent' power grid," says Rick Nicholson, vice president of research for Energy Insights. "We're very excited to be working with major energy organizations from around the world to bring this unique event to the United States in December, and provide a forum for leading experts to share information, discuss issues, and learn from each other."
The conference, first held in Brussels in 2004, is designed to address the technical, market, and regulatory issues challenging the integration of new generation technologies into electricity grids worldwide. Host sponsors of the event include the U.S. Department of Energy, Natural Resources Canada, the California Energy Commission, the European Commission Directorate-General for Research, and the Electric Power Research Institute.
The agenda, available at www.2ndIntegrationConference.com, includes noteworthy presentations by dozens of experts from North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region, along with focused workshops on topics such as the future of distributed energy in smart distribution systems, wind power transmission integration, and research and development programs on microgrids. In addition, more than 20 posters will highlight recent research results, and attendees can choose to tour one of three local installations of renewable and distributed energy systems in the Napa Valley and environs.
Hotel space at the conference venue is limited, so attendees are encouraged to register early to ensure availability. For more information about the conference or to register, please visit www.2ndIntegrationConference.com.
