BEIJING, Oct. 11 /Xinhua-PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Huaneng Power International, Inc. (the "Company") (NYSE: HNP; HKEx: 902; SSE: 600011) today announced its power generation for the first three quarters of 2006.
Based on the Company's preliminary statistics, as of September 30, 2006, the Company's total power generation based on a consolidated basis for the first three quarters of 2006 was 116.847 billion kWh, an increase of 5.31% over the same period of last year. The increase in power generation of the Company's power plants was mainly attributable to the following reasons:
1. The commencement of the operation of new generating units has increased the Company's generation capacity; 2. More power generation was accomplished by bringing into full play the advantage of the Company's high-efficiency generating units; 3. As a result of continuous economic growth, power demand in the regions where the Company's power plants operated underwent steady growth, thereby providing favourable market conditions for more power generation by the Company's power plants.
