WASHINGTON, Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today named Maggie Rhodes the new Federal Security Director (FSD) for McGhee Tyson (TYS), Chattanooga Metropolitan (CHA), and Tri-Cities Regional (TRI) airports in Tennessee. As FSD, Rhodes will oversee all TSA security operations in her area.
Rhodes most recently served TSA as Eastern Area Director. "Maggie has served our agency well as she helped to guide us in our national efforts over the past several years," said Michael J. Restovich, TSA Assistant Administrator for Security Operations. "She brings experience to Tennessee that will guide and shape the airports' current and future security initiatives."
Rhodes has worked in the transportation industry since 1971, mainly in trucking and aviation, in both the public and private sectors. She began working with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 1989 in aviation security. In that position she gained expertise in the various disciplines in aviation security, including domestic airport and air carrier; international assessments; air cargo, including hazardous materials; physical security of FAA facilities; and information systems security.
After a stint in the private sector, Rhodes returned to the FAA in February 2002. In August 2002, she was selected as the FSD for Fairbanks International Airport in Alaska. Rhodes will begin her new position later this month.
The position of federal security director was created by the Aviation and Transportation Security Act signed by President Bush on November 19, 2001.
